The race series is now in its fourth season, it started in 2007 with great success, and was awarded Championship status by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) from 2008. The 2010 race calendar, we believe, is amongst the best in Club Racing. We have events at the following circuits : · Brands Hatch Indy. · Brands Hatch Grand Prix. · Castle Combe. · Cadwell Park. · Oulton Park International. · Silverstone Grand Prix. We have forged a close link with Motor Sport Vision Racing (MSVR) for this season, which opens up the opportunity to take part in much higher profile race meetings. We will share the paddock with, variously, Formula Palmer Audi, Britcar, GT Cup, Toyo Tires Racing Saloons, Lotus On Track Elise Trophy. The regulations have been developed to provide low cost competitive racing, with the intention of preventing those with large budgets from ruling the grid. Competitors should be able to prepare a race car for as little as £2500. Regulations include:-
• Classes for 8 and 16 valve variants (Classes 1 & 2 respectively). • Standard engines with standard or control camshafts • Exhausts free from manifold back • Free spring and damper rates • Toyo control tyres
The response to the championship to-date has been phenomenal, we have been very encouraged by the numbers registering for the previous three seasons, the support shown by companies such as Toyo, Leda Suspension, Superpro bushes, Retro GTI, Slidesports, Black Cherry Dubspares and JMS. Competitor offers are available from most of our sponsors.
We have had press coverage in many motorsport and Volkswagen magazines, including Autosport, Motorsport News, Golf Plus, Full Throttle Magazine, and exhibited at the Autosport International Show every year since 2007. Marcus Pye in his Autosport Magazine column announcing that the series was “One of the highlights of the show”, following our 2007 show launch.
Registered competitors have come from throughout the UK, and from a range of backgrounds, including seasoned racers, sprinters/ hillclimbers, trackday participants, and GTi enthusiasts. We feel it is important to race in a friendly and helpful atmosphere, making race days a social occasion. We are more than happy to offer advice on any aspect of racing, including getting an ARDS licence, preparing the car, and what to expect on race days.
Finally, we would welcome any feedback you have throughout the season, relating to any aspect of the Championship from the regulations through to organisation/ administration (contact
